Microdramas taught a huge audience to binge stories one minute at a time: one beat per episode, then a question you need answered. You don't need a cast or a set to use that structure. Write each part as its own short script, and Tsuyu turns it into a narrated, captioned vertical video with scenes drawn to follow the story, in the same voice and style as the part before.

How it works

  1. Plan the ending first. Decide the final reveal, then outline the parts that lead to it. Every episode should move one step closer.
  2. Write one beat per part. Keep each script to a single turn of the story, short enough to run about a minute, and end it on an unanswered question.
  3. Lock the series look. Save the narrator voice, caption style and visual style as your defaults so part 7 is recognizably the same show as part 1.
  4. Render and download each part. Render every episode as a vertical MP4 and upload it yourself, numbered and in order. Tsuyu does not post for you.

An opening line to start from

"She signed the divorce papers at noon. By one o'clock she owned the company he'd just lost."

Tips

  • End on a real question, not a fake-out. Viewers forgive a cliffhanger once; they don't forgive a cheat.
  • Put "Part 3" in the title and keep a playlist so a new viewer can start from the beginning.
  • Finish the series. An abandoned story teaches your audience not to start the next one.
  • Write your own story. Familiar tropes are fine; copying someone else's plot or script is not.

Questions

What is a microdrama?
A scripted series of very short vertical episodes, usually one to two minutes each, where every episode ends on a cliffhanger. The format grew out of China's short drama apps and is now popular in the US.
Does Tsuyu make live-action microdramas?
No. Tsuyu makes narrated videos with illustrated scenes, captions and a voice from your script. It's a way to tell a serialized story without actors or a set.
How long should each part be?
About a minute is a good target. One beat of the story per part, then stop.
Does Tsuyu upload the episodes for me?
No. You download each MP4 and post it yourself, wherever you publish.
